Legacy Los Angeles Child Development Center, designed to honor the passion of their work, the community culture, and the historic building

Legacy LA Child Development Center //

The Legacy L.A. Child Development Center, located in the East Los Angeles’s Ramona Gardens Armory, is a community center that serves the area under the leadership of its executive director, Lou Calanche. This project was a community-driven venture, where RACAIA guided a team of community leaders, teen stakeholders, nonprofit and city officials, local political players and various city departments to coordinate and design and project which would suit the needs of multiple stakeholders as well as the very active youth community.

To this end, RACAIA completely redesigned and renovated an old U.S. Military armory in Hazard Park which serves as Legacy LA's Headquarters. This project involved a complete interior and exterior renovation, which includes educational areas, a black box theater, multiple classrooms, staff offices, restrooms, and multiple swing spaces which can be used for a variety of community events. Approximately 14,200 square feet.
