Designed to enhance public circulation, security processing, and jury services
Completed between January 17, 2024 and August 14, 2024, the project modernized the existing branch to enhance member experience, operational efficiency, and long-term flexibility within a compact footprint. The renovation reinforces LAPFCU’s commitment to maintaining community-based service centers while upgrading infrastructure and spatial organization to meet contemporary financial service standards.
The Foltz Courthouse Interior Renovation is an approximately 10,000-square-foot modernization designed to enhance public circulation, security processing, and jury services within an active courthouse environment. The project reconfigured key interior areas to better serve sheriffs, administrative and court staff, jurors, and public visitors while establishing a refreshed and cohesive design identity.
The scope included the creation of a new check-in and queuing system to improve visitor flow through security checkpoints, incorporating a lactation room and supporting ancillary spaces. Staff areas were renovated to provide updated offices, interview counters, reception areas, break rooms, and a new Sheriff’s Lounge. The project also removed a defunct escalator to reclaim valuable lobby floor area and improve spatial efficiency.
A central component of the renovation was the development of a new approximately 4,000-square-foot jury assembly room, replacing former District Attorney offices. The redesigned jury suite includes interview counters, administrative offices, airport-style seating with integrated power for electronic devices, and a dedicated jury lunchroom. Building system upgrades included fireproofing of existing structural elements, new security and fire alarm systems, and integration of updated audio-visual infrastructure. Asbestos abatement was conducted throughout the renovation.
Delivered within an operational courthouse setting, the project demonstrates RACAIA’s ability to modernize complex civic facilities while improving public flow, safety, and functional performance—creating a secure and welcoming environment for both staff and the community.
